Overview

Explore Seljalandsfoss, Sólheimajökull, Vík, Reynisfjara and Skógafoss on a nine-hour private Iceland South Coast tour for up to seven guests.

Experience Iceland’s South Coast on a private full-day journey from Reykjavík, travelling with an experienced guide in a dedicated vehicle reserved exclusively for your party.

The programme introduces Seljalandsfoss waterfall, the Sólheimajökull glacier area, Vík village, Reynisfjara black-sand beach and Skógafoss waterfall. The operator also provides onboard Wi-Fi and a snack basket containing Icelandic delicacies. The itinerary can be adjusted according to weather, road conditions and the group’s reasonable preferences.

The product is suitable for one to seven travellers and is offered in English and German. The operator recommends at least a moderate level of physical fitness because the day includes outdoor walking on wet, uneven or potentially icy surfaces.

Schedule Details

Day 1: Private Iceland South Coast Tour

Meet the guide outside or at the reception of your confirmed Reykjavík hotel or Airbnb. The operator communicates the coordinated pickup time and final details before the tour.

Seljalandsfoss

Travel east along Iceland’s South Coast to Seljalandsfoss.

The approximately 60-metre waterfall is known for the path that can run behind its cascade. Access is dependent on ice, wind, spray and path conditions.

Approximate visit: 20 minutes

Sólheimajökull Glacier Area

Continue towards Sólheimajökull, an outlet glacier connected with the larger Mýrdalsjökull ice cap.

Walk through the designated visitor area towards a safe viewpoint. This is not an equipped glacier hike, and guests must not go onto the glacier. Current official safety guidance specifically advises against entering the glacier because of dangerous conditions.

Approximate visit: 45 minutes

Vík í Mýrdal

Visit Vík, the southernmost village on mainland Iceland.

Use the stop for sightseeing, photographs, refreshments or lunch at personal expense. Views may include the coastline, village church and Reynisdrangar formations, subject to visibility.

Approximate visit: 1 hour

Reynisfjara Black-Sand Beach

Continue to Reynisfjara to see black volcanic sand, basalt columns and the Reynisdrangar sea stacks.

Visitors must remain far from the shoreline and comply with all warning signs and guide instructions because powerful sneaker waves can travel unexpectedly high onto the beach.

Approximate visit: 30 minutes

Skógafoss

Visit Skógafoss, a waterfall with an approximately 60-metre drop. Spray around the base can create rainbows in suitable sunlight.

Guests may view the waterfall from ground level. Stair access to the upper viewpoint is subject to time, weather and personal fitness.

Approximate visit: 20 minutes

Return to Reykjavík

Return to the guest’s confirmed Reykjavík accommodation after the programme.

The final route, stop order and duration may change because of weather, road conditions, daylight and safety considerations.

Total duration: Approximately 9 hours
Meals: Icelandic snacks included; lunch and drinks excluded
Accommodation: Not included
Guiding: Private guide
Transport: Private vehicle with Wi-Fi
