Toronto is a large city, so choose accommodation near downtown or a subway station and group attractions by neighbourhood. The CN Tower, Ripley’s Aquarium and waterfront are close together, while Yorkville, the Distillery District and Toronto Islands are best planned as separate outings. Reserve popular restaurants and major attractions in advance, especially during summer festivals and weekends.

From Pearson Airport, the UP Express reaches Union Station in downtown Toronto in approximately 28 minutes. Within the city, use the TTC subway, streetcars and buses; fares can be paid by tapping a PRESTO card or supported contactless debit or credit card. Traffic and downtown parking can be challenging, so public transportation is generally more convenient.

Pack according to the season: summers can be warm and humid, while winters are cold, snowy and windy. Always carry a light waterproof layer and comfortable walking shoes. Remember that Ontario’s 13% HST is usually added to displayed prices, and tipping around 15–20% before tax is customary at full-service restaurants, taxis and similar services.
