1. Choose Your Hotel Location Strategically

For first-time visitors, the best areas to stay are Syntagma, Plaka, Monastiraki, Kolonaki, and Koukaki. These neighborhoods offer easy access to major landmarks, restaurants, shopping streets, and evening walks.

2. Visit the Acropolis Early

The Acropolis is Athens’ most iconic attraction and can become very crowded, especially in high season. Visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon for a more comfortable experience and better light for photos.

3. Book Key Attractions in Advance

For major sites such as the Acropolis Museum, Acropolis archaeological site, and popular guided tours, advance booking is recommended, especially from spring to autumn.

4. Wear Comfortable Shoes

Athens is best explored on foot, but many streets are paved with marble, stone, or uneven surfaces. Comfortable walking shoes are essential, particularly around Plaka, Anafiotika, and ancient sites.

5. Use the Metro for Easy Transportation
